佛山赞生堂是一间誉满全城的医馆，主人梁赞（元彪 饰）不仅咏春拳天下第一，医术更是妙手回春，受到当地人民的拥戴。梁赞生有两个儿子，大儿子梁壁（谢霆锋 饰）天生聪颖，而幼子梁春则为人敦厚老实。梁壁一直想练武，偏偏梁赞不赞成他练武，多年来一直不肯把咏春传授给他。梁壁无奈只好自己习武，在外面结交了一帮酒肉朋友，为人好打不平。一次城里的恶少作恶时被梁壁狠狠教训了一顿，随后他找来了流浪高手到赞生堂踢馆，梁赞被逼迎战，虽然最后力挫强敌，但梁赞觉得梁壁整天就只会找麻烦，耍些三脚猫功夫，狠狠的罚了他一顿。梁壁从此更加不服气，发誓要在武学上超过父亲……。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。
