年轻的非裔美国人比格和母亲及兄弟姐妹住在芝加哥。他开始做富商道尔顿一家的司机，为道尔顿的女儿玛丽驾驶。直到他卷入了一场意外死亡事件后，其与强大的社会力量发生了冲突。。During the cold and rainy off-season a man arrives in a seaside town and, giving his name only as Pierre, checks into the only hotel which remains open. His arrival arouses curiosity and a degree of suspicion, as people note that he appears to know the area, yet gives no explanation for his presence at that bleak time of year in the dead-end town.。某一天，都市中突然出现了无数诡异扭曲的怪物，这些怪物会用会在晚上攻击或者扭曲影响普通人的心智，让他们变得类魔化。人们将这些突然出现且难以名状的怪物，称之为“恐怖” 为了应对“恐怖”的攻击，一帮拥有异能强者与之展开厮杀，这些人被称之为守夜人！。
